The places we live, work and play have a direct link to our health and wellbeing. Connecting with communities, social integration and reducing loneliness plays an important role in ensuring that we are well, happy, and enjoy a good quality and long life.
Public health collaborates with a number of partners to influence the factors that have an impact on our daily life. We work with housing and others to ensure decent housing standards, housing that support needs across the lifespan, and to increase the availability of affordable homes.
Through Social Prescribing we support people who struggle with isolation and loneliness to get connected to their communities, and lead a healthy and fulfilled life.
Public health also works with community planners and environmental health to ensure that access to parks and green spaces, transport and safe active travel, and cleaner air are enjoyed by all.
