Suntrap Forest Centre: Outdoor and environmental learning

Schools, education and learning

Opening in spring 2021 after a multi million pound refurbishment, Suntrap Forest Centre, based in Epping Forest, offers outdoor environmental activities for schools from early years to A level, families, adults and community groups. With a legacy of over fifty years, many users are repeat visitors.

Suntrap Forest Centre provides the opportunity to learn about natural environments in Epping Forest, school grounds, or your local green space, along with positive actions that can be taken to tackle the climate and ecological emergencies.

Our aim is to equip all visitors with age-appropriate knowledge and experiences; helping them to make choices to protect the environment going into the future.

Our residential site can accommodate up to 80 visitors in two separate groups of up to 40 campers. Our wooden 4-person eco pods are well suited for camping in the 21st century. Compact and functional, the sustainably heated pods provide a back to nature experience for all-year round camping.

The Meadow Lodge building with full height glass walls is a short walk across the camping site. The dining facilities open-up during warm weather to provide that outdoor eating experience with views across our wildflower meadows. No worries, the sustainable underfloor heating ensures it stays cosy during the colder months.
