We have an exciting Summer Holiday Activity Timetable in person and virtual play, learning and health activities for children and families in our centres and online. You can book sessions online. With Covid cases still high we ask that adults continue to wear a face covering, keep a safe distance and wash their hands regularly inside our centres. Book sessions as places are limited.  If your plans change please let us know so another family can join us.

Summer Pop Up Play at Fellowship Square 

Come along to our pop-up play sessions at the new Fellowship Square outside the Town Hall on Forest Road in Walthamstow. 

Bring a picnic and meet families! There will be entertainment, story telling, music and dance, and much more! 

Children can have fun in the fountain so bring your swimwear and a towel!

The sessions will take place on the following dates from 10am to 12pm:

Our Storytelling Sessions will be bringing vibrant stories and language to life! These will be held at Leytonstone Library, Walthamstow Toy Library and digitally.

Our Starting School Challenges with our puppets Charlie, Peggy and Hakeem will be helping you get ready for school!

  • You can watch their helpful videos digitally through our Facebook and Instagram with Charlie and Peggy setting a challenge on Wednesdays and Hakeem checking in on Saturday to see how you are getting on.
  • You can download the Starting School Challenge Booklet here with all the challenges so you can go at your own pace.

Our Summer Games Board will get you out and about in Waltham Forest. Playing games and having fun together as you explore our fantastic borough.

Parents and carers throughout Waltham Forest may be eligible to benefit from a free holiday clubs programme for children and young people over the school summer break. The Government’s Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) will be available throughout the region this summer.

Backed by a nationwide investment of up to £220 million, the expanded programme ran initially during Easter in all local areas and is also scheduled for the Christmas holidays in 2021. It will enable children and young people to enjoy fun activities with friends and learn and develop new skills. The local programme is due to launch in Waltham Forest on 26 July and is targeted at those who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

Holiday Clubs for 5 to 11 years

This Summer we have a wide range of free holiday enrichment activities across the borough available for children who are in receipt of benefit related free school meals to enjoy. The sessions will provide opportunities for children to try new things,  learn new skills, have fun,  making new friends and access a free hot meal.

All sessions are led by Waltham Forest Play Workers, with specialist workshops provided by professionals from a variety of local organisations.

Activities that are provided throughout these sessions are suitable and designed for children aged 5 to 11.

Due to COVID numbers are limited and booking is essential.  Children will be limited to attending 2 weeks of provision during the summer.

Holiday Activities: 11 to 16 year olds 

This summer we have a wide range of free activities for older children in receipt of benefit related free school meals aged 11 to 16 years across the borough for you to enjoy.

All activities are inclusive of children with SEN and/or disabilities, however if your child does have additional needs please contact us on 020 8496 3000 before booking so we can ensure the provider can meet the needs of your child.

The courses will provide an opportunity to learn new skills, try new activities and meet new friends.

Booking is essential on the programme so please book early to avoid disappointment.

If you are looking for all day childcare, there are many Holiday Clubs open across the borough during the holidays. These clubs are open all day Monday to Friday. A full list of Holiday Club providers can be found on the Childcare Directory.

Don't forget, if you use an Ofsted registered Holiday Club you can receive help with you childcare costs if you are eligible. Further information about tax credits, tax-free childcare, childcare vouchers and other support can be found on the Childcare Choices website.
