Waltham Forest Council is reviewing its plans for the Stanley Road car park site, in Bakers Arms, following a consultation with residents, local businesses and other users.
A six week consultation was launched in July looking at the proposal to build homes on this site. The majority of respondents said they did not support the current plans and were concerned about the loss of car parking to the town centre and ability to access local facilities.
Cllr Simon Miller, the Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and High Streets, said:
“We are listening and having considered the views of residents and local business on this proposal and its likely impacts, we have decided to look again at the potential for the site. This means that the car park will remain open and usable as a car park in the short to medium term while long term options are considered."
