Registration will be entered onto the cooling tower register within 28 days.

A cooling tower is a device whose main purpose is to cool water by direct contact between water and a stream of air.

An evaporative condenser is a device whose main purpose is to cool a fluid by passing that fluid through a heat exchanger which is itself cooled by contact with water passing through a stream of air, except for:

  • where it contains no water that is exposed to air
  • where its water supply is not connected
  • where its electrical supply is not connected

The prime purpose of this is to identify potential areas that could give rise to spread of infectious disease such as legionella and to ensure preventative measures are taken to eliminate the risk of such infection arising to employees and the public.

We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the service provider - preferably in the form of a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, GOV.UK gives advice on your consumer rights. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
