Waltham Forest Council will be illuminating the Town Hall and fountain in Pride-themed colours on both Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July during the evenings to coincide with Pride in London. A pride flag will also be flown at the Town Hall on Saturday.
Other activities in the borough happening during July and later in the year include:
Pride in the Borough
A Make it Happen Fellowship Funding project, supported by the London Borough of Culture 2019. Working with artists, communities, individuals and business from across Waltham Forest, Pride in the Borough is celebrating LGBTQIA+ diversity and significant moments and events throughout the year. Installations include a pride bus shelter in Leyton Mills and a rainbow crossing on Hoe Street in Walthamstow.
Pride in the Borough are also currently in the planning phase for several LGBTQIA+ events later in the year. More information on these events and how to attend will be made available across the Pride in the Borough (follow Pride in the Borough on Instagram and Twitter here) and London Borough of Culture 2019 communications channels.
Out in the Forest
Part of The People's Forest season and is also supported by the London Borough of Culture 2019, the event is taking place from 10pm-6am, Saturday 3 August 2019 at the Magic Spells Brewery in Leyton. The People’s Forest is a series of events exploring our relationship with Epping Forest, interrogating the deep bond we have with forests and woodland, and how this relationship is culturally determined.
Out in the Forest is described by organisers as ‘a queering of the landscape at Magic Spells Brewery on the edges of Epping Forest’. Performers will include the Radical Faerie Drum Circle, Sgàire Wood, Rhys' Pieces, Black Obsidian Sound System (B.O.S.S), Lewis G. Burton (INFERNO) and Sophie Coletta with more to be announced in the near future.
