Log in to Council Tax Connect

When you sign up to manage your Council Tax account online, you can: 

  • Check your account balance
  • view your bills
  • view payments made 
  • tell us you've moved address
  • setup or amend a direct debit  
  • apply for any discounts, reductions and exemptions

Our online services for Council Tax have now changed. We have moved to an online service called Council Tax Connect.

You cannot access your Council Tax information via My Account any longer and will need to create a Connect account to do so.

    1. Create an online account by completing the registration form

    a) provide your personal details, create your password and security question and click 'Next'

    b) click 'Add' for the Council Tax service and click 'Next'

    2. You will then receive an activation email at the email address you provided in the registration form. Click on the link in the email to complete registration.  You will now be able to log in to Connect using your username and password.

    3. After logging in, click on 'My Services' screen

    4. Enter your Council Tax reference number starting with the number 4 in the Council Tax section and click 'Access Now'

    5. Answer the security questions. The answers you need to provide will vary depending on the information we hold about you. It will help to have the following information to hand. You will be able to find most of this information on your latest Council Tax bill: 

    • Your council tax account number 
    • Postcode 
    • Phone number 
    • Amount of last Council Tax payment made 
    • Day of month Council tax payment due 
    • If you are paying by direct debit – bank account number from which this is being paid 

    If you are unable to answer the security questions, please select the 'I do not have enough information to continue' option. You will then be able to request a secure PIN. 

    You will receive an email within 72 hours containing your PIN and instructions on how to access your online account. 

    6. Choose you required eBilling option, and click 'Show Details' to view your account.

    If you are experiencing difficulties with creating your Connect account, you can report this by completing the query form.

    To create an online account, you will need a Council Tax reference number.

    If you do not have a reference number and you are new to the borough, it may be that the Council has not been notified of the property you have moved to.

    To report your move in please use the below form.

    Your form will be processed, and your new Council Tax account set up.

    Following that, you will be sent a Council Tax bill as confirmation. This will contain your reference number, starting with the number 4.

    Once you have received this you will be able to create your online Council Tax Connect account by following the steps in the Create your online account section above. 

    I already have a Connect account and would like to add Council Tax

    1. Log in to your Connect account
    2. Click on the 'My Services' button
    3. Select 'Add' for Council Tax and click 'Next'
    4. Enter your Council Tax reference number starting with the number 4 in the Council Tax section and click 'Access Now'
    5. Answer the security questions. The answers you need to provide will vary depending on the information we hold about you. It will help to have the following information to hand. You will be able to find most of this information on your latest Council Tax bill: 
    • Your council tax account number 
    • Postcode 
    • Phone number 
    • Amount of last Council Tax payment made 
    • Day of month Council tax payment due 
    • If you are paying by direct debit, the bank account number from which this is being paid 

    If you are unable to answer the security questions, please select the 'I do not have enough information to continue' option. You will then be able to request a secure PIN. 

    You will receive an email within 72 hours containing your PIN and instructions on how to access your online account.

    I have not received my Connect activation email
    If you have created your Connect account, but not received an activation email, please check your junk/trash folder. Our emails often end up there.


    I have not received my Council Tax online PIN
    If you have been unable to answer your security questions when setting up your Connect account and have requested a PIN instead, have you checked your junk/trash folder? Please be aware that PINs can take up to 72 hours to reach you.

    I need to make a Council Tax payment via my Connect account
    You can make a payment without a Connect account by using our online payments system.

    I haven’t received my Connect username email reminder
    If you used the 'I forgot my username' option on our Connect login page, a reminder will only be sent if you correctly entered and confirmed the email address that you used when creating your account.

    I haven’t received my Connect password email reminder
    If you used the 'I forgot my password' option on our Connect login page, we will only send you a reset email if you provided the correct username and security question when prompted. If an unexpected security question is displayed, please ensure that you have entered your username correctly. Your username is case sensitive.
    Password reset email links expire after 24 hours.

    I’ve read the above guidance and still have an issue accessing Connect
