Improving Marlowe Road

Housing

To create a better Walthamstow for you and your family to live in, Waltham Forest Council is regenerating Marlowe Road Estate.

This will happen over the next few years and involves:

  • Demolishing the existing buildings, except for Northwood Tower.
  • Building 430 new homes for social rent and private sale.
  • Improving the landscaping, green spaces and play areas.
  • Providing more commercial spaces on the improved development north of Wood Street Station.
  • New Energy Centre and extension of the low-carbon decentralised heat network - The Council recently won a bid for £1 million of funding to support this extension C.lick here to read more.

All council tenants affected by the regeneration have been given right to return. They will be given ‘decant status’ meaning they’ll get priority bidding if they want to move out of the estate.

Leaseholders can now negotiate with the council to sell their properties back at the current market value.

Also, generous compensation packages are available to those who qualify.
