Parking, roads and travel


The Freedom Pass for older people gives free travel on:

  • most public transport in London 24 hours a day
  • most National Rail services within the London area after 9.30am and all day at weekends and on public holidays
  • local bus services in the rest of England

The Freedom Pass for older people is funded by The London Borough of Waltham Forest and managed by London Councils on our behalf.

You can apply for the Older Persons Freedom Pass if you meet the age criteria and your sole or main residence is in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

If you’re a London resident, aged 60 or over, and not yet eligible for a Freedom Pass, you may be eligible for TfL’s 60+ London Oyster Photocard.

Apply for the Older Persons Freedom Pass online on the Freedom Pass website.

If you need help to apply online, visit one of our libraries.

You’ll need to provide proof of your identity, proof of your address and one colour passport-sized photograph with your application.

There is a £10 charge for replacing lost or damaged passes.

If you don't have access to a computer, you can visit a Library Plus branch where you can use a self-service pc to log your request/report.  Staff are available to support you if you need it.​​​​​​​
