Changes to rubbish and recycling collections due to staff sickness

Our waste contractors Urbaser have been working extremely hard throughout the pandemic to keep our neighbourhoods clean. We know the community will join us in thanking the crews for their dedication.

Unfortunately Covid staff sickness at Urbaser is reaching critical levels. As of Tuesday 12 January, over 50 regular staff are off sick.

To ensure that household rubbish and recycling collections continue:

  • Brown bin collections (garden waste) will be temporarily suspended from Sunday 17 January.
  • Large item collections will be temporarily suspended from Thursday 14 January

All residents who already have collections booked in please be assured that these will take place as planned.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

The crews are working very hard so please do all you can to make their lives easy. Park considerately, and please leave bins for collection at the edge of your property.

We would like to express our thanks again to the Urbaser crews, and to all Urbaser staff who are unwell. We all hope you get better soon.
