The Freedom Pass for disabled people gives free travel on:
- most public transport in London 24 hours a day
- most National Rail services within the London area after 9.30am and all day at weekends and on public holidays
- local bus services in the rest of England
The Taxicard scheme provides subsidised travel in licensed black taxis and private hire vehicles for residents with serious permanent mobility problems and those with severe sight impairment.
Taxicard users can journey when and where they want within the Greater London area. The Council pays towards a limited number of trips and you are expected to pay the first £2.50 towards the cost of each trip. If the journey goes further or above the subsidy then you will have to pay the extra.

TFL provide a mentoring service to help vulnerable people learn travel routes and gain confidence in travelling independently.
TFL's Travel Mentoring Service can offer advice to disabled individuals on planning a journey using an accessible route and can provide a mentor to accompany people on their first few journeys to help them gain confidence and become an independent traveller.
