It is an offence to sell cigarettes or any tobacco products to a person under the age of 18 years. It is up to you to decide whether or not that person looks 18 years of age. If in doubt, you should not sell cigarettes or tobacco products to them. This includes sales from tobacco vending machines.
You must sell cigarettes in packets of 10 or more and in their original packaging.
You must display a clear sign where you sell cigarettes stating. “It is illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone under the age of 18”.
If you sell cigarettes to any person under the age of 18 years, you could face a fine of up to £2,500.
