Employment and Skills Projects

Waltham Forest aims to increase the borough employment level by targeting disadvantaged groups and focussing on the areas with the highest incidence of worklessness. Since the mid 1980’s and the decline of the manufacturing industry there has been a steady decline in the number of jobs in the borough, the main sectors for employment now are public sector, retail, distribution, hospitality and leisure. The Regeneration Unit along with relevant partners works to strengthen the business economy and ensure that residents have the skills required to access opportunities both within and outside the borough.
