The Executive

SafetyNet is hierarchical in its structure and the most authoritative part of the structure is the Executive. The Executive comprises a group of chief officers, or equivalent, representing key partner agencies as well as lead policy officers.

The SafetyNet Executive subscribes to the concept and principles of project management as advocated by the local authority.

In operational terms this confers the role of programme board to that of the SafetyNet Executive without adding to or detracting from its existing role and functions.  This structure aims to facilitate a robust system of internal checks and balances ensuring that those matters being brought to the attention of the Executive are of an exceptional nature.

Project Boards

Reporting directly to the executive, formerly referred to as delivery groups, are seven project boards.  The project boards will have oversight and monitor performance of discrete and individual projects summarised in a thematic action plan that will be delivered by time limited project teams comprising principally of front line officers.

The project boards typically meet on a bi-monthly basis with membership mirroring that of the SafetyNet Executive, albeit at a more operational level to reflect the action oriented nature of its work.  The project boards or delivery groups have been part of the SafetyNet structure since May 2004. Consistent with previous processes, the administration of the individual project teams and the project board will be the responsibility of the lead support officer for the respective crime theme.
