The Walk to School Week event began in Waltham Forest in 1993 and has since been taken up in most parts of the UK and also internationally. In Waltham Forest all primary schools take part – about 70 schools with 23,000 children – National Walk to School week usually takes place in May. Stickers and leaflets advertising the event are provided by the Council for the schools and many schools provide special lessons during the week about pollution generally and danger around the school caused by dropping children off by car.
Take part in the ‘Walk to School Week’ held every year in May in all Primary Schools in Waltham Forest. For information contact Safiah Ishfaq, School Travel Plan Advisor on 0208 496 6782, or email safiah.ishfaq@walthamforest.gov.uk.
