After lobbying from the six local authorities along the line of the Gospel Oak to Barking Rail Line, tip-up seats in one compartment especially designed for bikes were included in the refurbishment of carriages. There are also one foot-wide bike channels at Blackhorse Road Station to enable cyclists to push bikes up the stairs rather than carry them.
The Council has been assured by London Rail that bikes will be allowed on the North London and Gospel Oak to Barking Line from November 2007 when it takes over the line and becomes part of the London Overground network.
