The Council objectives are to:

  • Combat discrimination, violence and harassment against lesbians and gay men service users and employees.
  • Work to eliminate intolerance and oppression on the grounds of sexuality in all the Council’s spheres of influence.
  • Work in partnership with lesbians and gay men and organisations which represent them to develop responsive local services.
  • Ensure that there is a positive environment within the Council that respects and supports lesbians and gay employees and service users.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest commits itself to developing policies which reflect and respect the diverse lifestyles and experiences of all Waltham Forest’s lesbians and gay men. The Council also accepts that the needs of lesbians are distinct to those of gay men, including for example, the needs of lesbian mothers.
