Encouraging local women to become involved

We have always welcomed women’s involvement in decision making and leadership roles. Women Together aims to actively encourage more women to get involved in community and democratic life through various events over the period of the programme.

The programme will recognise and develop the leadership potential of women, and encourage active citizenship and community cohesion between different groups.

The programme will include themes and a range of activities will involve:

  • Events to encourage women to become local councillors, school governors and non-executive directors of local health services
  • An Active Citizen programme where women would benefit from highly trained mentors and resources of London South Bank University in assisting them to contribute to the community
  • Empowering women through faith events
  • Developing mentoring and shadowing opportunities for local women
  • A democracy in practice evening for young women
  • ‘Meet the decision makers’ events for local women to engage in dialogue with the key decision makers in Waltham Forest
