Waltham Forest Council and the borough’s police have been awarded Beacon status for their work in building Cohesive and Resilient Communities. The Council and the Police have a robust and open partnership

Met Police Prevent Team

The increasing momentum of the preventing extremism agenda has provided the police with an opportunity to build good relations with communities and schools. Centrally funded, this group of officers seek to engage with the community and build positive relations with the Police, with a three year remit, this new initiatives seeks to enhance and build on the already established links with the Council, community groups and schools.

The Prevent Action Plan sets out what we deliver and how we will govern and monitor this work over the next twelve months.

The Waltham Forest Police Independent Advisory Group (IAG)

The Waltham Forest Police IAG exists to help improve police and community relations and offer advice on police responses and effectiveness.

The IAG include representatives from local community groups and its success depends on a dynamic membership.

Members are chosen for both individual contribution and commitment and the manner in which they reflect the diverse communities of Waltham Forest.
