Crime prevention activities take place throughout the year.  The crime prevention activities promote personal safety and target issues such as domestic burglary, street and vehicle crime. The activities also seek to raise awareness of seasonal issues such as drink spiking in the festive period.

Waltham Forest community safety staff, the police safer neighbourhoods teams, street wardens, fire brigade, FRANK, Connexions, Victim Support and other partners come out in force offering information and crime prevention equipment such as light timer switches, personal attack alarms, alcohol unit calculators to encourage sensible drinking and UV pens for marking property.

Crime prevention van

The SafetyNet Partnership have a new crime prevention van to enable crime prevention activity to be targeted more closely at communities throughout the borough. The van incorporates side opening doors which open into a wide area. The van is wheelchair accessible and fully equipped with a wide range of information leaflets and crime prevention products. Inside the rear of the vehicle is a small office area to facilitate private discussions or interviews on sensitive matters. The vehicle will be widely used for community safety crime prevention events and the Our Area Matters programme  as well as being used by the police, accident prevention unit and other partners.
