An Alcohol Restriction Zone is an area where a police constable or police community support officer can require you not to consume alcohol.
The officer can:
- Ask a person to stop consuming alcohol
- Confiscate alcohol, even if the drink (such as a can, bottle or a glass) is not open
- Dispose of any alcohol and containers the person has
A person may be arrested if they fail, without reasonable excuse, to comply with the officer's request. There is a maximum fine of £500.
