Supporting our families
Families, young people and children in Waltham Forest can access free, impartial information and advice at the Council’s Family Information Service (FIS). The FIS can help with the costs of raising a family across a number of areas including state benefits for families, tax credits, help with childcare and schooling costs and early education entitlements.

Supporting our older people
Age Concern Waltham Forest is a local voluntary organisation founded 25 years ago by local people to improve the quality of life of older people in Waltham Forest and can help people maximise their incomes and reduce their outgoings. Call 020 8558 5512.

Get information, advice and guidance on education, jobs and training as well as the latest on events and activities happening in and around town in one central location at the Council’s Youth Support Service.
Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll find:
- Forest Flava provides the latest on events and activities happening in and around town, information, direction and advice for young people aged 11-19.
- Connexions Direct is a service for young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 years with learning difficulties or disabilities) that offers quick access to information and advice on a wide range of topics, including education, jobs and training.
- Choice is a searchable website for young people that profiles the 25,000 courses and programmes offered by London's 600 schools, colleges and work-based training providers.
- Nextstep provides advice and guidance on learning and work to young adults living in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest.
