Pupils and staff at Norlington School for Boys in Leyton have raised £480 for the disaster fund for survivors of the Haiti earthquake.
A non uniform day was held on Friday 15 January and pupils at the specialist maths and computing school donated a pound for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
The DEC brings together leading aid charities such as the British Red Cross, Save the Children, Oxfam and Action Aid.
Deputy Headteacher Guy Persaud said: The earthquake has been devastating and the pupils and staff were keen to do their bit to help.
"The boys don’t need much of a reason to wear their own clothes but in this instance they were keen to do so to help out those who have suffered and lost their homes and families in the quake. We are proud that most pupils contributed at least £1 towards the cause. We hope other people in the area will also join us by giving generously.”
Donations can be made directly to the DEC by phoning 0370 60 60 900.
