On Sunday 22 March 2009, 75 young people aged 11-17 completed in the East London Mini Marathon at Redbridge Cycle Circuit. Runners from Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Newham completed the 3 mile course and will now be selected for the Adidas London Mini Marathon in April.

The Adidas Mini London Marathon took place on Sunday 26 April 2009. 48 young people from the Borough competed in the six races. The 15-17 year old boys team won the Borough Challenge and the girls teams all improved their placings.
