On Saturday 20 November 2010 the first event in the London Youth Games 2011 competition took place at Parliament Hill Fields
The main games took place on the weekend of 3 and 4 July 2011. Hundreds of young people from Waltham Forest returned proudly from the games, coming home with a clutch of much deserved medals. Demonstrating considerable skills in a variety of sports, Waltham Forest team racked up a haul which included five gold medals, four silver and five bronze.
What is the London Youth Games?
The Balfour Beatty London Youth Games is the largest sporting event for young people, it involves all 33 London Boroughs and 26 National Governing Bodies of Sport in over 60 competitions across 30 sports. You can compete for your borough if you live or go to school in Waltham Forest. It’s free and open to all young people, aged between 7 and 17.
The Games offers competitive opportunities for participants of varying abilities and experience and has been a stepping stone in the careers of international and Olympic athletes.
