Medals galore for Team Waltham Forest

The Balfour Beatty London Youth Games 2008 is the largest sporting event for young people, held in July 2008.

Team Waltham Forest competed in 34 different sports from angling to weightlifting, with events being held at various venues across the city culminating with the finals at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on the 5 and 6 July.

Cllr Geraldine Reardon, Cabinet Minister for Leisure, said

''I am delighted that the team did so well in this year's Youth Games.  As an Olympic host borough, it's important our young people feel a part of this once in a lifetime event  taking part in the Youth Games not only gives them this opportunity to complete in their chosen sports, but to also record their hopes and aspirations for the Games and their legacy.''
