How are we doing?
- Produced a ten year Tree Strategy which reflected the views of residents obtained through a wide consultation process
- Produced a ten year Open Spaces Strategy that took into account local statistical survey data and public consultation feedback. The strategy will inform specific projects to improve green space services to the local community.
- You said that our playgrounds needed to be improved. To address this we increased our budget by £200k per annum to facilitate a programme of repairs and refurbishments. In addition to this, £750k was invested to provide a new playground at Kitchener Road Park and 10 existing play areas across the borough were significantly renewed.
- We have secured £48k funding from the Mayor for tree planting
- We supported our residents in setting up a Friends of Parks group for Wingfield Park

Open Space Strategy 2010 to 2020
In September 2010, the Council adopted the Open Space Strategy for the borough. Using data gathered through surveys and consultation with residents, the strategy reports on the amount, location and quality of open space in the borough. The strategy is intended to last until 2020 and it contains an action plan for the first three years of this ten year period. See Open Space Strategy 2010 to 2020
