Resources for schools and community learning

When the Gallery reopens in July 2012 we will have a brand new, dedicated learning space and an exciting new programme of activities and resources for schools and community groups. In the meantime we have the following resources available.

Loan boxes

Loan boxes are available to Waltham Forest schools. These be used to enhance the teaching of many subjects, including history and art and design. Loan boxes can be collected from our partner museum, Vestry House, by appointment and borrowed free of charge for up to two weeks. The boxes come with an activity pack giving ideas on the use of the objects.

An Introduction to William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement

This loan box contains a variety of objects such as tiles, wallpaper and fabric samples, as well as Turkish tiles and Pashmina from India representing how diverse cultures have influenced arts and crafts designers

Islamic Arts and Crafts

The box includes a variety of books on Islamic geometric patterns, miniature Turkish carpets, a wood block and a booklet on 'Muslims in Britain'. Objects were donated by Noor Ul Islam Primary School
