The Gallery’s displays and collections are an excellent study resource for all levels of the UK National Curriculum. A Teachers’ Resource Pack is available which gives:

  • Information about William Morris and the William Morris Gallery
  • Suggestions on how to relate Morris to the UK National Curriculum
  • Advice for teachers on planning visits to the Gallery
  • Information on useful books, videos etc.

How to book a school visit

School groups need to book in advance to visit the gallery, please contact us by telephoning 020 8527 3782 or e-mail wmg.enquiries@walthamforest.gov.uk at least two weeks in advance.

We will need to know:

  • The number of pupils and year group
  • The number of teachers / adult helpers (we suggest 1 adult to 6 pupils)
  • The date and time of arrival and departure
  • The name of the school and a contact name and phone number
  • If you would like to use the Inspired by Nature resource pack on your visit.

Primary Schools' Programme

The Inspired by Nature Resource Pack and associated activities are available for teachers to download free of charge. The pack will help you to structure your visit to the gallery and includes activities aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils studying Art and Design.

The Gallery also has a reference library and archive containing books, articles, exhibition catalogues and unpublished material on all aspects of Morris, and on the arts and crafts movement and Victorian art and design. Items in the Gallery’s collection that are not currently on display may also be viewed.
