The ground floor and garden are fully accessible, Accessible toilets are also available. There is no level access to the first floor galleries. You can take a detailed virtual tour (external) of the museum. Each tour opens up in a new window.

Visitors with visual impairments

Text size in the new galleries and for all temporary exhibitions are produced at or above the recommended font size, whilst lighting levels are maintained at the highest level acceptable for the exhibits. Large text is available for all temporary exhibitions as well as the Made in Waltham Forest gallery. There is a Braille guide to the history of the museum. For group visits please book in advance so that some of the museum's handling collection can be made available.

Outreach

We have a series of travelling displays and loan boxes containing real and replica historical items available to borrow. These are made available free of charge for local community groups and schools in Waltham Forest so that this material can be used or displayed at more appropriate venues. A charge may be made for out of borough loan.
