school visits

Class Visits

Class visits to libraries can be arranged, free of charge, at all of our libraries. A librarian will give a brief introduction to the services available and if desired will talk about specific books and/or provide a story telling session. To arrange a session please contact your local library directly.

Schools Visits

Librarians visit schools each year to introduce and promote participation in the National Reading Challenge, the Summer Activities Programme in libraries and other major annual events such as Black History Month.

Librarians introduce children to the library service, answer any questions they may have and entertain by reading stories and poetry.

Librarians also visit schools to encourage children to participate in national events such as National Poetry Day, World Book Day and Family Learning Week.

The Library Service works closely with local schools and has organised many other events and activities to meet the needs of local school children, including IT training on Searching the Internet, compiling lists of appropriate children's websites and email training.
