Major improvements are underway to make Waltham Forest Libraries bigger, better, brighter places to visit, as part of our £7 million programme of investment in the service.
Leytonstone Library
This art deco gem has been completely refurbished, maintaining and improving original architectual features. The library now offers an expanded range of services including:
- All new books, DVDs and CDs
- New RFID self issue and self return.
- New WiFi wireless internet access using a laptop, PDA or mobile
- New children's library offering three dedicated children's computers
- New teenage/homework centre offering four dedicated computers and study space
- New ICT suite offering 16 computers
Walthamstow Library
The refurbishment of Walthamstow library has now been completed with the opening of a new ICT suite, offering 20 computers and a new non-fiction area.
Harrow Green Library
Services at Harrow Green Library have been extended to include:
- New children’s library on the ground floor complete with play zone and new computers
- New study collections to help with coursework and twice as many computers for adults to use in the main library
Hale End Library
Hale End library has re-opened. There is improved access to the building for people with disabilities. The ground floor has been transformed with improved ICT facilities, dedicated children's PCs, and more social space for people to enjoy. There are all new books, DVDs and CDs.
The first floor has been brought into public use for providing services such as adult education.
North Chingford Library
North Chingford library has re-opened. The ground floor has been completely refurbished with improved ICT facilities, dedicated children's PCs and more social space for people to enjoy. There are many new books, DVDs and CDs offering greater choice for everyone.
