Great Reads at your library

Waltham Forest residents of all ages were asked to tell us what their Great Read is and why.

The results were announced at the launch of the Waltham Forest Literature Festival on 13 May 2010.

Showcasing a mix of modern hits and timeless classics, the adults' top-ten featured the likes of John Steinbeck and Haruki Murakami, with Steig Larsson's crime blockbuster 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' claiming the top spot. The borough's younger residents proved themselves similarly fond of the classics, with eco-friendly Dr Seuss tale 'The Lorax' placing alongside modern favourites by Philip Pullman and Eric Carle's 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' munching his way to number one. Copies of all 20 books are available in each of the borough's libraries, so why not pop in to discover a new Great Read of your own?
