With a range of economically priced halls and informed and helpful booking staff – we aim to make hiring your hall as simple as possible.

Simple to book
To help them advise you on the most suitable hall for your needs, please consider the following questions:
- When do you want to hire the hall?
- What is the type of function – a wedding reception, concert, conference etc.
- How many people will be coming?
- When do you want to hire the hall (date and starting and finishing times)
- Do you want a bar service?
- Is access required for people with disabilities?
- Are you staging an entertainment, cabaret or function with admission charges?
- Does your function need lighting and a public address system?

- Contact the booking office for any enquiries, to arrange viewingsand to check availability
- You can only view the Halls by selected appointment times only.
- If you wish to provisionally hold a date – we will hold your date for 7 working days only. If you do not confirm the date by 5pm of the seventh day – the date will become available for other customers to hire
- When you wish to confirm the function date contact the Booking Office on 020 8496 8018 and we will post you the booking form and conditions of hire. You have 14 working days to complete and the form by post with deposit (25% of hall hire charge) for the function date to be confirmed
If we do not receive the return of the Booking Form with your deposit by the date specified your function date will be made available for other customers to hire.
- Your balance payment must be received in full six weeks prior to your function date
- Customers booking a function date within six weeks prior to the function date will have to pay in full at the time of booking
- The damage deposit is £1,000 for Walthamstow Assembly Hall and £750 for Chingford Assembly Hall
- Providing no damages or violation of the conditions of hire took place during the event you will be refunded the damage deposit. Refunds will be returned as a cheque payment to the named Hirer as per contract within 14 working days after the function date
- The hall assistant will be present during your function to to help you enjoy your hire to the full and ensure you keep to the hire and licensing conditions and the regulations governing health and safety and fire
Cancellations
- All cancellation requests must be received in writing into the Booking Office and signed by the Hirer as per contract
- If you cancel more than 42 days before your function date you will forfeit the deposit paid at the time of booking
- If you cancel within 42 days prior to your function date then you will forfeit the full Hall Hire Charge
- In both cases, all additional monies paid towards the booking will be refunded (Damage Deposit and Kitchen Charge)
- In the event of the date being hired to an alternative hirer for a similar amount , you will be refunded full amount paid minus 25% of the total Hall Hire Charge for an administration fee.(deposit paid at time of booking)
Bar services
At Waltham Forest we do our utmost to provide you with the very best in bars services.
We offer competitive drinks packages, a corkage option, attractive wine lists and special case rates. We can provide glasses, bar sundries and bar staff for your function. Tea, Coffee and a snack service can also be supplied on request.
Why not choose one of our drinks packages to compliment your meal or make your own choice from the wide selection available.
All packages are served to your guests on arrival and throughout the meal by our uniformed staff.
As the licensee within Waltham Forest Council Hall, Waltham Forest Bar Service reserves the bar rights as the exclusive supplier. It is not possible for hirers to supply their own alcohol. Unless it is under one of the following circumstances and only with the written permission of the Bars Manager:
- At the discretion of the licensee it may be possible for the hirer to supply some sherry and table wines during full sit-down formal buffets and dinners.
OR
- A corkage agreement form has been signed and the appropriate fee paid.
Hirers have agreed these arrangements with the Licensee Manager.
If you require a Bar Service or Case Rates, Waltham Forest Bar Services will supply all drinks including soft drinks.

Hall hire
Walthamstow Assembly Hall is available for hire from 9am-1am, Monday to Sunday. Minimum hall hire time is eight hours.
The Hirer of the hall is deemed as the person who completes and signs the Assembly Hall Booking Form (the Contract) and is the sole person responsible for any matters concerning the Booking.
