Is your existing Council or Housing Association home too large for your current housing needs?

Home transfer scheme advert

The Council urgently need more family sized properties to help us to house the high number of households that are registered for accommodation in Waltham Forest.

If your current Council or Housing Association home is now too large for you, it is likely that we may be able to assist you to move to a smaller property of your choice (subject to suitable vacancies), through our Useful Transfer Scheme.

Whilst you may already have been thinking about moving, perhaps to be nearer shops, friends & relatives, or to a more preferable location, there are various other advantages to transferring to smaller accommodation with fewer bedrooms.

A smaller property may have a more affordable rent, the Council Tax may be cheaper, gas & electricity bills will be lower, & the property will be easier to manage and keep clean.

In addition to the benefits already mentioned, maybe you would prefer a property on a lower floor level or perhaps with a garden?

What can we do to help?

In addition to providing you with advice and assistance to bid for a suitable home of your choice, we may place your application in our high priority Additional Preference Band and your prospects of a prompt move will be quite high.

A Cash Incentive of £500 will also be paid for each unused bedroom that you release (in excess of assessed housing need).

We can also arrange your removals to your new home if necessary.
