Twenty three schools across the borough have now signed up to the Junior Street Watchers scheme as part of Waltham Forest Council's Go Green Awards.
The Junior Street Watch scheme is about getting children to take responsibility for issues in the area they live in and to be an extra pair of eyes for the Council, reporting any environmental problems to us so that we can take the necessary action to put them right. The campaign's motto is “See it report it”
The children are responsible for reporting any environmental problem, for example:
- Graffiti
- Litter
- Fly tipping
- Damaged trees
They will record the details and take pictures of the problem area and report these back to the Council. The information will then be passed on to the relevant Council department to investigate and put right.
