Under Section 34 of The Environmental Protection Act 1990 all businesses have a duty of care to dispose of their waste through authorised trade waste collection services and must be able to prove this.
You need to have a contract with a recognised waste management organisation to dispose of your trade waste. The maximum fine for dumping rubbish is £20,000 and/or 6 months imprisonment.
Domestic waste is collected within costs covered under the domestic rate. This is not the case with shops, factories and other businesses under the non-domestic rating system.
Your business rates do not include collection and removal of your waste.
Waltham Forest does offer a trade waste service on request. Please call Waltham Forest Direct for more details.
