Local authorities have a statutory requirement to provide their residents with a regular collection service for domestic refuse. Waltham Forest provides a weekly domestic collection service.
The main responsibilities and functions of the Refuse Collection Service are:
- The weekly collection of household waste
- Collection of green waste
- The provision of a wheeled bin system of collection
- Assisted Refuse Collection
- A responsive limited free collection service for small quantities of bulky household waste
- A chargeable special collection service for large quantities of bulky household waste and building materials
- Regular monitoring of the Refuse Collection Contractor to ensure service delivery within set targets
