The Council's Waste Hut aims to raise awareness of waste, the problems caused by it and what we can do about it. Located at the Kings Road Recycling Centre, it provides information and exhibits about waste management and services provided by the Council.
The Waste Hut is used for promotions, open days, presentations, activity weeks in the school holidays and for school educational visits and is also available for organised visits by groups. Children learn about the problems caused by waste and its disposal and are encouraged to reduce, reuse or recycle waste instead. Waste can be fun!
The sessions will involve practical "hands on" events including paper-making. They can also include presentations about the problems of waste or specifically dealing with an issue relating to a particular part of the curriculum. One class can be accommodated at a session, with a minimum of two adult supervisors.
If your group, organisation or school is within Waltham Forest and would like to visit the Waste Hut, please contact Anita Starling on 020 8496 3000 or by email at anita.starling@walthamforest.gov.uk
Activity sessions for children are held during the school holidays. Contact Anita Starling for details and times.
