How are we doing?

  • We have successfully implemented a mixed recycling pilot on estates and residential properties across the borough to make recycling easier for our residents.
  • We have implemented timed refuse collection pilot for flats above shops (Leytonstone High Street)

Your 40

Your 40 is a new recycling campaign to encourage you to do your bit and recycle more.

The Government have told us we must be recycling a minimum of 40 per cent of our waste by 2011. The Council also has landfill targets that it must not exceed, and in 2011 for every tonne that is over the target we will be charged £150. These charges will be paid for out of your Council Tax.
