A comprehensive three-year review and assessment, which determined that in Waltham Forest road traffic is the major source of air pollution, causing unacceptable levels of nitrogen dioxide and PM10s. The Council declared the Borough of Waltham Forest an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) in October 2001. All London local authorities have completed simplar air quality problems.
What's next
One year on from the declaration of the AQMA, as required under Part IV of the Environment Act 1995, the Council has to produce a further detailed review and assessment, (Stage 4) and an Action Plan.
