Information about listed buildings and conservation areas in Waltham Forest.
The Council seeks to conserve, protect and promote the best of the Borough’s heritage and built environment. There are 11 Conservation Areas and over 100 statutorily Listed Buildings in the Borough. The Council has also prepared its own local list of buildings, which do not have the same statutory protection, but which the Council will seek to conserve and enhance as much as possible.
The Council also gives Historic Building Grants in certain circumstances, to help private owners conserve their property. The Council is currently installing a series of “blue plaques” in the borough, commemorating local celebrities, and will be providing heritage trails linking the plaque sites.
