What do we do?
We investigate the main public health pests, rats, mice, cockroaches, bedbugs and fleas. We give free advice about controlling a wide range of common pests and offer a free identification service for insect pests.
Where treatment is undertaken we recover our costs from those who can and should pay for pest control. This assists us with the cost of controlling public health pests in the borough through our subsidised, professional and competitive service.
What you can expect if you contact us
Our people at Waltham Forest Direct (020 8496 3000) will make an appointment for a pest control officer to visit you. Your details will be kept confidential. We will tell you if there is a charge for the treatment and, if so, what it will cost you. If you are on council tax benefit, our charges are reduced.
We can also send you a fact-sheet on your pest control problem, several of which are available on this website.
What you can expect if we visit you
We will assess your problem and offer effective treatment where possible.
Our experienced and well-trained officers can complete many of our treatments in one or two visits. We will also give you advice about protecting your home against pests, and how to prevent the pests from coming back.
For treatments that we charge for, we will ask for the full payment at the time of our visit and provide you with a receipt. If you are in receipt of council tax benefits please provide proof so that we can reduce our charges.
Where necessary, referrals can be made by the pest control officer to our public health enforcement team.
