The Waltham Forest Go Green Award (GGA) is a new scheme designed to recognise the work that schools and our young people are doing to help tackle climate change and improve the environment they live in. It is a comprehensive environmental award scheme that will not only allow schools to enter but will help prepare schools to enter other environmental awards.
The scheme aims to raise awareness of environmental issues and get children, schools and the wider community to take responsibility and act against climate change and work towards making their environment a better place to live in.
Help us to act now to improve the environment we live in for future generations.
Entry is now closed. Schools that have registered will be receiving their GGA packs at the beginning of July 2009. Completed action plans and evidence must be received by Friday 31 May 2010.
Awards
- Gold Award and £2,000
- Silver Award and £1,000
- Bronze award and £500
All participating schools will receive a GGA certificate on completion and as an incentive to take part in the scheme we will give each school one fruit tree to plant in their school grounds. All of the winners will be invited to collect their GGA at a presentation ceremony.
The GGA is operated by Waltham Forest Council, which is committed to recognising, rewarding and supporting environmental best practise and sustainable development around the borough. See the Waltham Forest Go Green Award 2009/10 brochure (515KB PDF file).
