A dangerous building or structure is one that is liable to collapse. Reports of potentially dangerous buildings are investigated as soon as a surveyor is available.
Our duty is the protection of the public. We can deal with a building that is an immediate danger, if it is in a location to which the public have access, and the owner is unable to do so.
If another body should deal with the danger, for example Street Services or the Health and Safety Executive, we will inform them.
This is an emergency service. As with the Police, Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service it should not be abused.
Matters, which do not pose a threat to the general public, should not be reported as dangerous buildings or structures.
