What is WorkNet?
WorkNet is the Better Neighbourhoods Initiative employment programme, and is part of the Worknet Partnership.
A team of 5 WorkNet Outreach Officers work from a range of community locations across Waltham Forest and the team can provide:
- 1-to-1 support
- advice on getting back to work for all unemployed residents
- employment support to lone parents on getting back to work, including advice on training and on childcare needs
- support residents wishing to access the Childcare Affordability Programme (CAP)
- employment support to people on health-related benefits, including in-work health advice, advice on aids and adaptations in the workplace for people with disabilities
- help with writing a CV and application forms
- advice on interview techniques
- confidence-building
- support finding a work placement
- advice on accessing training and improving your skills
WorkNet can also provide information on a range of training and employment initiatives operating across Waltham Forest including:
- access to jobs arising via the Olympics Job Brokerage delivered by Talent/ At Work
- advice on how to access local pre-vocational support including ESOL, Skills for Life, literacy and numeracy classes
- advice on accessing vocational skills in a range of industries including construction training, health and social care, childcare, hospitality
