Current improvements
We have created a comprehensive single point of access for local residents at the Cyber Link Centre. The Cyber Link, based just outside Lea Bridge ward offers a range of services to local residents; these include
- Information Communication Technology courses (computer training) which have been available since April. To date we have provided residents with over 100 training places
- Mini health MOT’s
- Job search sessions and employment support
- A homework club for young people and training for local businesses
- Residents living either Markhouse or Lea Bridge wards will also be able to visit the Cyber Link to discuss local service issues that are important to them
Other improvements
- We provided additional Street Wardens to ensure young people attending both Kelmscott and South Grove schools were reassured at lunchtime and at the end of the school day
- In Lea Bridge we reintroduced Street Wardens with a particular focus on Lammas school in response to concerns raised by pupils and local residents about safety in and around the school. A permanent solution to this issue has now been secured with a schools Police Officer now in place
- Funded a pilot project on reducing gang activity in and around the area. Young people at risk of becoming offenders were trained on how to use creative media, including music technology and video making
