Better Neighbourhoods Initiative in your area

The Better Neighbourhoods Initiative is bringing extra resources to the Higham Hill and Valley area to help tackle quality of life issues important to local residents including improving public services by making them more responsive and effective to local needs.
To help us achieve this, we have a small neighbourhood team based locally in the area. Part of their work includes:
- bringing together services such as the police, health, employment services, housing management and services delivered by the Council
- looking at how services are being delivered
- finding ways that these services can be improved in order to deliver services in a way that local people need and want
We also have key workers based in the neighbourhood to make sure residents benefit from our special interventions including support in accessing training and employment through our WorkNet outreach programme, and achieving a healthier lifestyle through support from our Household Health Improvement Manager. In addition, we have a two-year programme to improve parks and open spaces in the area under our Cleaner Safer Greener Project
