Education Plus is staffed by experienced teachers who specialise in teaching pupils with special educational needs the majority of whom have a statement. Teaching is mainly 1:1 or in a small group. Full-time education is not provided. Education Plus is able to meet the needs of pupils with:
- complex and diverse learning difficulties;
- specific learning difficulties;
- emotional and behaviour problems;
- autism/Aspergers syndrome:
- non-attending/school refusers.
The service can also offer an on demand service to carry out the baseline assessment of pupils either in school or at the centre. There is also a qualified counsellor on the staff. In addition Education Plus can provide teachers to work in schools and support pupils with special educational needs. This service is paid for by the school.
Referrals are mostly made by schools who pay for the teaching and specialist services provided.
