Free Early Education (FEE) places for 2- year olds

From September 2009, 2 year olds can be referred for 15 hours per week Free Early Education with a registered and approved provider for a minimum of 38 weeks per year.

Currently the providers are:

  • Acacia Nursery School and Children Centre
  • Little Green Man Nursery
  • Redwood Preschool
  • Higham Children Centre
  • The Lloyd Park Children Centre
  • The Cornerstone Preschool
  • St Andrews Preschool
  • St Patricks Preschool
  • Busy Bee Preschool.

Starting from the day after the child’s second birthday and will be provided until the end of the term of the child’s third birthday.

There are 128 places across the Borough.

Referrals can be made by:

  • Children Centres
  • Social Services
  • Health workers
  • Childcare providers
  • Education professionals

Eligibility criteria:

The family of the 2 year old must be in receipt of one or more of the following:

  • Income support
  • Income based jobseeker’s allowance
  • Child tax credit at a rate higher than the family element of £545 per annum
  • Extra working tax credit relating to a disability or pension credit

Evidence must be supplied with the application.

A professional has to confirm why the child would benefit from Free Early Education.
