What do I do if I have a complaint about a school issue?

Any disputes regarding any incident in or around a school should be addressed to the headteacher of the school. You can find the school's details on the schools list. Please ask the school for their complaints procedure. Schools are locally managed and are obliged to deal with school complaints.

If you are dissatisfied after using the schools complaints procedure then you may need to refer your complaint to the Chair of Governors of the school in question. If you have exhausted the schools procedures, you can refer to the Council who will investigate to ensure the proper procedure has been followed.

The council recognises the importance of customer complaints and welcomes complaints as a valuable form of feedback about its services. Waltham Forest is committed to using the information it receives to help drive forward improvements.

The Council Complaints Scheme outlines the aims of the council in dealing with complaints and sets out what you as the customer can expect when making a complaint regarding a council service.
